We have some updated drawings and site plan for the Stage 2 funding bid to Growing Community Assets. These (with a few tweaks here and there) and the plans that have been submitted to Argyll & Bute council for planning permission.
The main building contains a café, classroom/meeting space for events,, activities and schools to use. We added additional storage and increased the size of the kitchen based on advice from our focus group.
The café has indoor and outdoor seating and we have moved the play area from where it is located in the drawings you have to in front of the café, so parents can sit in the café or on the terrace and keep an eye on the children.
The classroom space will be used flexibly and the doors open completely so it can be one whole space with the café. At times it will open up to the café with toys in the additional space for children to play with, or available for hire in the evenings as a whole space- at other times it will be used completely independently with a separate entrance.
An accessible pathway will be built through the forest, for walking and cycling. We will rely on volunteer input to add interest to this and create natural play spaces- this is what we as a community are offering to contribute. New moorings will be put in place and a play area will be created.
Key to all of this is a programme of activities and events which will take place throughout the year – building on the success of the volunteering, events, activities and training which have already taken place.
Research was conducted into the most popular holiday accommodation. The fastest growing market is in glamping with the market for couples accommodation being most popular. To tap into this market something a little quirky is needed. We have chosen three quite different types of accommodation to provide people with choice, appeal more widely and to see what works best for us – we can then grow this later. A consultation with our focus group confirmed that this was a good way forward and provided a lot of input into the design of the glamping pods (which we are calling forest huts). We are providing a toilet and shower block and a communal meeting space and kitchen with a fire pit.
We hope you like it!
